Race the USA - Virtual Running Challenge in San Diego, CA

With great trails and ambiance comes great running! The city of San Diego is an example of just that.  Known for its warm climate and plentiful beaches and parks that are easy to access, especially for downtowners and travelers staying near the airport, San Diego runs ranks high on the list of a runner’s paradise. Great running locations here include the trails around the harbor, beaches like the Mission Beach and Parks like the famous Balboa Park. Other locations worth having a run including the La Jolla and Torrey Pines. For a more challenging 10k run San Diego, the mountains towards the East are sure to go hard on you. With so much in an offering, let us look at some of these locations in more detail!

Trails, trails everywhere!

With the San Diego Zoo, several Museums and gardens, the Balboa Park located 1.2 miles from downtown is a sight for sore eyes. With both developed paved paths and unpaved woody trails, this well-developed park comes with extensive markings for directions and locations making it a runner’s delight! With over 27 miles of shoreline, the Mission Bay Park is the largest aquatic park of its kind in the world with numerous inlets, waterways and islets for runners to explore. The Park’s trails include the 12-mile loop around Mission Bay (perfect for a 10k San Diego run), a 4-mile loop around Fiesta island, and paths through the Playa Pacific Park. These 5k San Diego routes come with water views, parks, beaches and bridges of course. All this, just minutes from downtown San Diego! Parallel to the Mission Bay Boulevard is the signature Oceanfront Boardwalk running trail which is a 3.5-mile trail that stretches from North Pacific Beach to South Mission Beach. Finally, for a more adventurous run, the 5-mile route from the shores of La Jolla to the Torey Pines State Beach has you covered on cliffs, waves, beach sides and sunsets. Enjoy your low tide runs!
